  • Mohair pays about 3 times more compared to wool
  • Mohair fibre is used to produce high end garments
  • Angoras are shorn twice a year i.e. every six months
  • You can farm 5 angoras to the acre (this depends on your environment)
  • Angora Adult goats yield 2-3kgs of mohair each shearing
  • Angora Kids yield 1-1.5kgs per shearing
  • A baby angora is called a kid up to one year old
  • A female adult is called a doe
  • A entire male adult is called a buck
  • A castrated male is called a wether
  • Angoras live up to 10-12 years of age
  • Angoras are browsers no grazers ie they eat a variety of foods not just grass
  • A goat eats around the same as a sheep
  • Appropriate fencing is a 7-8 wire or netting strained fence with posts and intermediate droppers
