MOHAIR CLASSING AND PRICES

Mohair is classed on several characteristics.

Micron- this is the thickness of the mohair strand, the finer the micron the better the price

Length – mohair is graded on three lengths A, B and C lengths. A is 90-150mm long, B is 50-90mm long and C is anything 25- 50 mm long.

“A“ grade is the best in terms of returns.

Kid mohair comes from kid angora goats. This returns the highest price.

Young goat mohair fibre generally comes from the third/fourth shear onwards.

Adult mohair comes from angora goats aged from around 4 years old onwards.

Other grades like stain, cott, vegetated fibre and dags still give good returns.

All mohair sent is worth something, so send it to us!!
